As a HEPP partner, your role involves:

• Collaborating with our teams to provide input on care planning, delivery, and evaluation.
• Sharing personal experiences and insights to shape policies and practices for person-centred care.
• Representing the person and family voice in discussions, committees, and decision-making processes.
• Serving as an ambassador to raise awareness and advocate for person-centred care.
• Respecting confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines.
• Providing feedback for program evaluation and improvement.

Roles vary across the spectrum of engagement. A Health Experience Partner can hold one, multiple, or all of the roles.

We have various opportunities with different time commitments and can often tailor roles to meet your availability and interests. The duration of roles can be short or long-term, and the time commitment can vary from one-time involvement to weekly commitments.

We understand and accommodate the diverse time availability of our Health Experience Partners, allowing you to contribute meaningfully while balancing your other commitments.

The term for Healthcare Experience Partners is indefinite, with the opportunity for a regular review to ensure ongoing value and engagement. You have the autonomy to end your term at any time.

The process to join starts with a casual conversation where our Program Coordinator will provide you with more information about the program, our available roles, and asks a few questions to better understand what type of partnership role would interest you the most.

From there, you will be asked to complete an application form followed by an interview with the team whom you would be working with directly. After this, you proceed through volunteer screening as set out by the Public Hospitals Act. Once passed, your onboarding will include general training orientation, as well as some role-specific training before beginning your role.
