Lumeo Health Information System
Starting in December, our teams will begin using a new Regional Health Information System—Lumeo—to improve how we deliver care. Once Lumeo is implemented, patient electronic medical records will flow seamlessly among six healthcare organizations—Brockville General Hospital, Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Lennox & Addington County General Hospital, Perth Smiths Falls District Hospital, Providence Care, and Quinte Health.
This new system helps doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff keep track of your care, share information quickly, and make sure you get the best, most up-to-date treatment.
You may notice appointments take a little longer in December as our teams get familiar with the new system. Please be patient as we learn. We will do our best to minimize disruptions and, as always, strive to provide the best care possible.
We encourage you to allow for possible delays when planning your visit and transportation. Our staff may also revisit questions you’ve answered previously, such as those about medications and your health history.
Thank you for your support and patience during this transition.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a health information system?
A Health Information System (HIS) is a single electronic health record system for your care in hospitals and other healthcare organizations across the region. It gives your healthcare teams across our region access to your medical history, without you having to remember and repeat this information at every visit. Your healthcare providers will be able to use the system to easily add information about your appointments, your treatments and your test results. Our HIS is called Lumeo.
- Secure, shared access to electronic medical records across six partner organizations
- Timely access to results, appointments, and health histories
- Less time repeating health histories, more time for care
Lumeo also gives you access to your medical record through our HealtheLife Portal! You’ll be able to view your medical history, treatments, and appointments, and add important information such as new medications or allergies. The HealtheLife Portal will be available later in 2025.
What will be different at my visit?
- We’ll spend less time asking you to repeat your health history and more time talking about you and your care
- You may notice more technology being used at your appointment, such as mobile workstations, smart phones and barcoding equipment. This technology is secure and helps us capture your information directly into your medical record.
- Clinical practices (the way things are done) will be more standardized across the southeast region, so you’ll know what to expect at your appointment.
- You’ll be able to review your appointments, treatments, test results and medications prescribed through our Lumeo HealtheLife portal (available later in 2025).
- If you are a caregiver, you may be able to access information about your loved one’s appointment through the HealtheLife Portal.
Will the hospitals be completely paperless?
There will still be some paper, such as documents that come from outside the hospital. These documents will be scanned into the system to become part of your medical record.
Will information from my family doctor be included in the new system?
Not at this time, but you can enter information such as allergies and medications when the Healthelife portal is live.
How secure is the system and my medical information? The system is being built by Oracle Health, a company that has significant experience building secure medical records systems. The Lumeo system will have strict adherence to privacy and security standards, along with 24 /7 monitoring and support.
