A New Era for PECMH: Virtual Community Update – February 25
A hospital built by the community, for the community—that’s what’s taking shape in Prince Edward County. Construction of the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) is underway, and community members are invited to hear all about it at a Virtual Community Update on Tuesday, February 25 at 4 p.m.
What’s in store?
Quinte Health’s dynamic President and CEO Stacey Daub will set the stage for a construction update, highlighting the progress to date.
Jason-Emery Groen, Design Director at HDR, will walk us through the vision behind this one-of-a-kind hospital – the first in North America to be built entirely from mass timber.
This cutting-edge approach isn’t just about innovation—it’s about creating a sustainable, healing space that’s built for the future.
The new PECMH will be better, more comfortable, and designed to serve our community for generations to come.
Here’s a look at what’s coming:
• A hospital that’s as forward-thinking as it is patient-centred
• Private rooms with individual bathrooms for more privacy and better infection control
• A modern emergency department designed for faster, more efficient care
• An onsite CT scanner—so critical diagnostics can happen in the County
• Healing gardens and natural light to create a calming, supportive environment
The new hospital is a model for sustainability:
• Powered by geothermal energy and solar panels
• Green roofs and EV-ready parking
• Designed to be net-zero-ready in the future as equipment evolves
Back the Build Update:
None of this would be possible without the incredible support from our community. That’s why we look forward to an update at the session from PECMH Foundation Executive Director Shannon Coull about how our donors—through the Back the Build campaign—are making this dream a reality.
