Quinte Health is proud to introduce the 2025/26 Board of Directors, welcoming four new members who bring a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a shared commitment to strengthening health care in our region: Katherine MacIver, Shusmita Rashid, Dianne Spencer and Gail Walker.

This year, Quinte Health received nearly 40 applications from individuals interested in serving on the Board, demonstrating the strong reputation of the organization’s governance and a growing community interest in contributing to the future of our local health system.  Each of Quinte Health’s Board members is also a member of the community, ensuring that local voices and perspectives are represented at the highest level of decision-making.

As a skills-based and community-rooted Board, changes in membership is a healthy and intentional part of strong governance—bringing fresh ideas, renewed energy, and new expertise to the table. This year’s new members build on that momentum, joining a dedicated group of volunteers committed to strategic leadership, financial oversight, performance monitoring, and meaningful community engagement across our four hospitals and programs

Returning for a third year as Chair is Lisa O’Toole, with Gary Hannaford continuing as Vice Chair and Steve Geist appointed as Treasurer for the 2025/26 term.  O’Toole expressed her gratitude to both the new and returning Board members for their commitment to ensuring high-quality, compassionate care for all.

“Serving on the hospital board is a true privilege. Together, we are focused on decisions that strengthen our health system, improve access to care, and reflect the evolving needs of our communities,” said O’Toole. “I’m honoured to work alongside such a skilled and passionate group of leaders.”

O’Toole also offered sincere thanks and recognition to outgoing directors Nancy Evans, Gary Mitchell, and Christian Sauvageau for their service and dedication to Quinte Health’s mission.

“We are incredibly grateful for the leadership and contributions of Nancy, Gary, and Christian during their time on the Board. Their guidance and thoughtful perspectives have helped shape the direction of our organization, and their impact will be felt for years to come,” she added.
