Quinte Health Recognized for Saving Lives Through Organ and Tissue Donation
Quinte Health is proud to be recognized by Ontario Health (Trillium Gift of Life Network) with a Provincial Conversion Rate Award for 2024/25. This award celebrates our ongoing commitment to supporting patients and families during end-of-life care and to helping save and enhance lives through organ and tissue donation.
In 2024/25, Quinte Health supported three organ donors, leading to the donation of 13 organs that saved 10 lives. We also supported 23 tissue donors, whose generosity has improved the lives of many more people. Achieving a 75% conversion rate, surpassing the provincial target of 63%, reflects the dedication of our teams across all sites.
“Organ and tissue donation is one of the most profound ways we can support patients and their families at the end of life,” said Magdalena Stapinski, Program Director, Medicine and Critical Care. “This award is a testament to the compassion, skill, and teamwork of so many at Quinte Health who make these donations possible. Most importantly, we honour the donors and their families for their remarkable generosity during some of the most difficult moments.”
Across Ontario, in 2024/25, hospitals supported 339 organ donors, leading to 836 life-saving transplants, and 2,077 tissue donors, improving countless other lives. These successes are only possible thanks to the collaboration between hospitals, patients, families, and Ontario Health (TGLN).
Every Ontarian has the power to save or significantly enhance the lives of others by registering as an organ and tissue donor at BeADonor.ca and sharing their wishes with their loved ones.
