Belleville General Hospital Quinte 5 Medicine Unit – COVID-positive patients on this unit may have one (1) consistent visitor at this time. All asymptomatic patients may continue to have two (2) visitors at a time.
You may enter the clinic through our dedicated Cancer Clinic entrance.
Each clinic visit, we ask that you please bring:
An up-to-date list of medications including names, dosage and schedule.
Appointment journal listing specialist appointments, diagnostic tests, etc.
Other helpful information:
You are invited to bring a list of questions with you.
We encourage you to bring one family member or friend with you for support. This is especially important during your first clinic and treatment appointments. Family and visitors are not permitted in the treatment area.
You are encouraged to bring a lunch with you. Snacks and meals are available for purchase at the retail service venues located at the hospital including the BGH Auxiliary’s Aroma Cafe and Tuck Shop as well as Tim Hortons.
Wait times can be lengthy. We encourage you to bring your own reading material.
Many people living with cancer experience nausea, diarrhea, and other symptoms and side effects from their treatment or disease. Cancer Care Ontario has created easy-to-understand Symptom Guides, including practical tips to follow at home, and advice on when to get help from your health care team.
Please discuss your side effects and symptoms with your health care team.
Wellspring offers a range of programs designed to help provide connection and belonging, ease physical pain and emotional distress, build strength and mobility, and reduce fatigue. Specialized financial, workplace, counselling, and other cancer-related supports are also available. Wellspring programs are available across Canada online, and through centres in Ontario and Alberta, all at no charge, and without a referral.
