Acute Care Medicine

Quinte Health has Medicine units at all four hospitals, serving patients with diverse medical needs. 

You may be admitted to one of the Medicine units after a visit to an emergency department, through a transfer from another hospital, or referred to a unit by a specialist, family doctor, or another care facility.

Patients on the Acute Medicine units are cared for by nurse practitioners or physicians who specialize in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, and by a team of health care providers that includes nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, respiratory technologists, personal support workers and a number of other highly-trained professionals.

We will listen to you and partner with you to make sure you are involved in all decisions about your care and treatment plan. Our teams are eager to work with you to get you back on the road to recovery.
