Mental Health Services

Belleville General Hospital is designated under the Mental Health Act of Ontario as a Schedule 1 facility providing a continuum of mental health services from crisis intervention, acute inpatient admissions, day hospital community and outpatient clinic support.

The Mental Health Service provides leadership and expertise in the care of individuals and their families with mental health concerns. Working with the client, the interprofessional teams provide clinical assessments, therapeutic intervention and support community integration. Within the framework of recovery-oriented mental health care, the programs and practices identify and build upon each client’s individual assets, strengths and areas of health and competence.

Knowing it is common for persons with mental illness to experience stigma and barriers to social integration, the mental health programs, working with our clients and community partners, are committed to reducing the stigma related to mental illness and promoting the fullest recovery for each client.

Our programs include:

  • Crisis Intervention Centre
  • Transitional Outpatient Centre
  • Assertive Community Treatment Team
  • Mental Health Inpatient Program
  • 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline
