Quinte Health Transitional Care Unit

Quinte Health’s Transitional Care Unit is an off-site unit designed for medically and surgically cleared patients who no longer require acute care but are not strong enough to go home. Patients are expected to dress daily and participate in activities to promote mobility. If patients need further tests or a procedure at the hospital, staff will arrange for the transfer there and back.

Quinte Health has 24 beds in the Transitional Care Unit, a combination of single and double occupancy. Rooms are chosen specifically for patients by the staff. Rooms are basic, with a bed, one armchair and a bedside table.

As a Transitional Care Unit patient, your stay is intended to be short, so it is suggested that you do not bring (or limit) large items.

Suggested items to bring with you are as follows:

  • Calendar, clock, small radio
  • Tablet/ iPad for entertainment purposes (WIFI is available)
  • Personal care items: Toiletries, shampoo, body wash, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Clothing
  • Shoes (non-slip are recommended to participate in therapy)
