As the Royal Canadian Air Force celebrates its 100th anniversary, Quinte Health President and CEO, Stacey Daub takes a moment to thank all the service men and women and share her personal connection with the RCAF.

Stacey’s message:

I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude as our partners at CFB Trenton mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). It’s with tremendous pride that I also take this moment to thank all the service men and women, and their loved ones, who are a part of the Quinte Health family.

I have a deep personal connection to the RCAF, as my father Gerth Daub, served in the Air Force, and was a proud and active member of the 404 Wing in Waterloo until his death a few years back. I know I’m not alone. The Royal Canadian Air Force holds a special place in the hearts of Canadians, symbolizing not just the strength of our skies, but also the spirit of resilience and unity that defines our nation.

For a century, the men and women of the RCAF have stood as guardians of our freedom, protecting our skies, and ensuring the safety and security for all of us. From the courageous pilots who braved the skies during times of conflict to the dedicated personnel who provide humanitarian aid in the face of adversity, the RCAF has always been at the forefront, embodying the values of service, sacrifice, and compassion. Their selfless commitment and unwavering resolve have been a source of inspiration and pride for generations of Canadians.

Since moving to the Quinte Region, I have learned a lot about CFB Trenton and the tremendous role the base has played, and continues to play, on a national and international stage. I have learned how the base’s extensive presence has melded beautifully into the fabric of our communities—creating education, awareness, and friendships. Its countless contributions have shaped and enhanced our local communities for the better over time. We are remarkably fortunate and thankful to have such a point of pride right here in Quinte.

On behalf of Quinte Health, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Royal Canadian Air Force on reaching this extraordinary milestone. May the spirit of camaraderie and excellence that has guided the RCAF for the past century continue to inspire future generations.

Happy 100th Anniversary, RCAF! Your legacy of courage and dedication will forever soar in the hearts of Canadians.

Canadians across the country are asked to participate in marking the RCAF centennial by lighting up their cities, businesses, and homes in blue, and to share photos on social media using the hashtags #RCAF100 and #100YearsOfFlyingBlue, in support of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and its personnel. Quinte Health is honoured to participate by adding blue floodlights at our four hospitals on Monday, April 1 to honour the service personnel at 8-Wing and across our country.
