Walking into the expansive areas that house the behind-the-scenes infrastructure at Belleville General Hospital (BGH) can be a bit overwhelming to the untrained eye. Water systems, boilers, electrical systems, and back-up generators – it’s a sensory overload of pipes, switches, valves, gauges, and lights – accompanied by the various sounds and vibrations of the working systems and their many components in action.

Joseph Brant and the rest of our maintenance team know these systems like the back of their hands and take tremendous pride in keeping them in working order for our teams and the patients we serve. CEO Stacey recently spent some time with Joe and got to see firsthand the herculean efforts it can take to keep the complex facilities functioning.

“Joe is a perfect example of the expertise, work ethic and deep commitment it takes to keep the hospitals functioning, and he’s a heck of a nice guy to spend some time with and to learn from,” Stacey explained. “No one’s role at Quinte Health is more important than the other, and it’s important we take time to extend respect and gratitude to those working behind the scenes who may not always receive the recognition they deserve – we all make a difference!”
